Tottenham Hotspur have been urged to consider former Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick as a possible replacement for Ange Postecoglou.

According to information available to Softfootball, the recommendation has come from a Chelsea legend who believes Carrick possesses the qualities needed to take charge of the north London club.

Carrick has already gained managerial experience since retiring as a player, including a spell in charge of Manchester United on an interim basis before taking over at Middlesbrough.

His coaching approach and knowledge of the Premier League have made him a candidate who could attract interest from clubs seeking a manager familiar with English football.

Tottenham must decide on the direction of the club following an inconsistent campaign under Postecoglou.

A change in management would give Spurs an opportunity to begin a new project, but the club would also need to ensure the next appointment fits its long-term plans.

Carrick’s reputation and previous experience at Manchester United could make him an intriguing option if Tottenham decide to make a managerial change this summer.
