Chelsea Face Late Competition from Bayern Munich for Xavi Simons Amid Transfer Push

Softfootball understands that Chelsea are facing late interference from Bayern Munich in their attempt to land Dutch playmaker Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.

The 21-year-old, one of Europe’s most talented young midfielders, is reportedly a top target for the Blues, who are keen on reinforcing their creative options under manager Enzo Maresca.

Simons only made his switch to Leipzig permanent in January following a loan spell from Paris Saint-Germain, but his standout performances have attracted interest from several top clubs.

Chelsea are pushing hard to land Xavi Simons as the transfer race heats up. Sources suggest that personal terms are nearly agreed upon, and Simons is open to a move to London.

However, Bayern have now made contact through intermediaries to assess the conditions of a potential deal. Although the German champions haven’t submitted an official bid, their sudden involvement could complicate Chelsea’s final push for the Dutchman.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the latest developments via his official X account, tweeting:

“Chelsea and RB Leipzig continue direct club-to-club talks for Xavi Simons.

“RB Leipzig are aware of the player being very keen on the move and tempted by Chelsea.

“Bayern have made calls to be informed this week, but Chelsea remain clear favorites, already in talks and with the player’s green light.”

Chelsea view Simons as a crucial part of their squad rebuild, especially with potential exits on the horizon. João Félix and Christopher Nkunku have both been linked with moves away, and the club’s recruitment strategy remains focused on bringing in young, technically gifted players who fit Maresca’s long-term vision.

The West London side is also close to securing deals for other promising talents, including Ajax defender Jorrel Hato.

Brazilian forward Estevão Willian and Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens are also on the radar, with pre-season signings expected to ramp up in the coming days.
