Softfootball can confirm Chelsea have started contacts to begin a move for Maxence Lacroix, with the Crystal Palace defender now emerging as one of the club’s leading defensive targets this summer.
The move comes shortly after Chelsea officially completed the signing of highly-rated Italian full-back Marco Palestra from Atalanta in a deal worth €50 million plus €5 million in add-ons, as preparations continue for the new era under Xabi Alonso.

The French centre-back is understood to be higher on Chelsea’s shortlist than Jacobo Ramón, with club-to-club discussions expected to follow in the coming days. Lacroix is reportedly open to making the switch to Stamford Bridge as the Blues continue their squad rebuild.
Chelsea are looking to add more physicality, aerial presence and Premier League experience to their defence, and the Palace defender is viewed as a strong fit for those requirements. While Lacroix is currently away with France at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, transfer discussions are already progressing behind the scenes.
