Chelsea’s defensive organization was particularly important as they maintained their narrow lead until the final whistle. The result also added further pressure on Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, whose side had struggled for consistency throughout the campaign.

For Chelsea, however, the focus was firmly on the three points. The club had endured an inconsistent season but remained within reach of a Champions League place. Manager and players would have been encouraged by the result as they attempted to build momentum during the final stages of the campaign.

With the race for European qualification remaining competitive, Chelsea knew that further victories would be essential. The win over Tottenham was therefore an important step in their attempt to secure a top-four finish.
