Former England international Karen Carney has credited Fulham manager Marco Silva for the impressive form Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has shown in recent weeks.

Iwobi scored twice as Fulham beat Brighton 3-1 on Thursday night, continuing a rich vein of form that has seen him become one of the Cottagers’ most reliable performers.

Softfootball reports that Carney broke down the Nigerian’s evolution while speaking on Premier League Productions. She observed:

He has always been a worker, grafter in the team, but it’s that quality. I think tonight playing in that more central role, he had that responsibility.

Carney went on to praise how much the 28-year-old has grown as a player under Silva’s guidance, adding:

He’s matured now, he’s 28, he’s an experienced player under a manager that gets the best out of people. Marco is certainly getting the best out of Alex Iwobi there.

Iwobi’s central role appears to be unlocking a different side of his game, and Carney believes there’s more to come if the trend continues
