Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of highly rated 16-year-old centre-back Liam Claude Kanté after winning the race for one of Europe’s most promising defensive talents.
The Bundesliga club have reached a full agreement for the youngster, with all documents signed to bring the Croatian prospect from Lokomotiva Zagreb to Signal Iduna Park.
Dortmund fought off competition from several leading European clubs to secure Kanté’s signature, underlining the club’s continued commitment to recruiting and developing elite young talent.
Softfootball understands The move comes at a time when Dortmund could also be preparing for a significant departure. Barcelona have made major progress in their pursuit of winger Karim Adeyemi after agreeing personal terms with the Germany international.
Adeyemi has informed Borussia Dortmund that Barcelona is his preferred destination, and the Catalan club have already submitted an official offer. With the 24-year-old unwilling to extend his contract beyond 2027, a summer move to Camp Nou is becoming increasingly likely.
While Dortmund look set to lose one of their established stars, the arrival of Liam Claude Kanté represents another investment in the club’s long-term future.
