Boniface, who was introduced in the 76th minute, made the decisive contribution by calmly finishing in the 98th minute to complete a remarkable turnaround. His goal sealed a dramatic victory and highlighted his growing importance to Xabi Alonso’s side.
The Super Eagles striker continues to rediscover his best form after returning from injury, while Leverkusen remain firmly on course to defend the German Cup they won last season.
