Fulham defender Calvin Bassey has expressed his disappointment after the Cottagers suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League.

Marco Silva’s side dominated much of the contest at Craven Cottage and created several opportunities but were unable to find the back of the net.

Softfootball understands that Fulham were punished late in the game when Argentina international Lisandro Martinez scored the winning goal for Manchester United.

Bassey felt his team deserved more from the encounter, insisting that Fulham controlled proceedings but failed to make their chances count.

I thought we deserved more. We controlled the game, and it wasn’t our day,

the Nigeria international told TNT Sports.

The defender also acknowledged that luck played a role in the result, while admitting that Fulham needed to be more clinical in the final stages of their attacking moves.

According to Bassey, Manchester United did not create many clear opportunities to trouble the hosts, but Fulham’s inability to convert their own chances ultimately proved costly.

The defeat will be a frustrating result for Silva’s men as they continue their Premier League campaign.
