Marcus Rashford is now a Barcelona player. The English forward has completed his medical and signed his contract, but he can’t be registered just yet.
Barcelona needs to sort out their salary cap first, either by selling players or cutting wages, and Softfootball understands that the deadline is the end of August.
For Rashford, this move is a chance to start fresh. He’s been under fire in England, with many saying his form has dropped. But is it really just on him? Some argue Manchester United’s problems have dragged him down.

Rio Ferdinand, a United legend, didn’t hold back. He questioned whether the blame lies with the club for failing to support one of their own.
Spanish reporter Javi Miguel even reported via his official X handle that Marcus Rashford might play on the 27th of July against Kobe, as he has been given the green light.
He said:
“Rashford gets the green light!
“He could play on July 27 against Kobe for a few minutes.
“His last match was at the end of April.”
Rashford has produced numbers. Between 2019 and 2023, he had three seasons with 30+ goal contributions.
In 2022-23, he hit a career-best 30 goals and 9 assists. Even in his so-called bad years 2023-24 and 2024-25 he still racked up 13 and 19 contributions. Not eye-popping, but still better than some big names.

He mostly plays on the left, which suits Barcelona’s need for variety. Raphinha had an insane season with 34 goals and 22 assists, but he operates differently.
Rashford brings speed, power, and a direct style. He’ll stretch defences, take defenders on, and probably frustrate a few too.
He can play through the middle, too. With Lewandowski ageing, that’s useful. Rashford may not be the most clinical striker, but his movement could fit well in La Liga.
People will keep debating whether Barcelona made the right call. But one thing’s clear Rashford has something to prove. And if he hits form in Spain, plenty of critics back home might eat their words.
