Barcelona are preparing to return with a third proposal for Rodri as negotiations with Manchester City continue over the Spanish midfielder.
The Catalan club have already seen packages worth around €50 million and €60 million rejected by City, but Barça remain confident of finding a solution.
Direct club-to-club negotiations are continuing, with Barcelona now looking to reach a compromise somewhere between their latest €60 million proposal and Manchester City’s €80 million asking price.
Softfootball understands that Manchester City recently rejected Barcelona’s second proposal of around £55 million for Rodri, with the valuation gap remaining the main obstacle to the transfer.
Barcelona are expected to improve their offer once again as they attempt to convince City to lower their demands and allow Rodri to return to Spain.
The 30-year-old midfielder has already agreed personal terms with Barcelona and is understood to favour the move. He has been in discussions with the Catalan club for several weeks, with Barça continuing to work on a deal they believe can be completed.
The next proposal could prove crucial as both clubs move closer to a potential compromise over the final transfer fee.
