Joan García has made an encouraging move for Barcelona by resuming first team training today. García had been kept out of full first team activities because of a knee injury.

Softfootball had earlier reported that following the injury, he would undergo a surgery which would keep him out of the field for four to six weeks.

It’s good news that he is now back to training and this indicates that the club sees him getting close to participating in games once again.

However, they are taking careful steps as the Barcelona staff want to protect him from relapse by not pushing him too hard even though he might be available for official games after the international break.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed this in his official X handle, he posted:

Joan García has returned to first team training with Barcelona today but staff doesn’t want to take any risks.

Barça GK likely to return in official games straight after the break.

The goal keeper had moved to Barcelona in the summer of 2025 from Espanyol and was duly registered in the La Liga. He immediately scaled up to been one of the promising goalkeepers in the club with goals ahead of him.

To ensure that they have a fit and ready goalkeeper for their games, the club’s medical and coaching teams would need to follow a step by step plan probably by checking his reaction to stress after each training.

From there, they can now decide when he will resume match duties for sure. Barcelona clearly has ambitions in La Liga and Europe, so having goalkeeper who is in shape is very important.

If García returns to official match soon, it could add to the team’s stability. For now, the team and its supporters will keep a close eye on him.
