Awaziem Completes Move To MLS Side Colorado Rapids

Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids have confirmed the signing of Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem, who joins the club following a single season with fellow MLS outfit FC Cincinnati.

The centre-back has put pen to paper on a deal running through the 2025 season, with the club holding options to extend his stay into 2026 and 2027.

Softfootball gathers that Awaziem made 14 appearances across all competitions for Cincinnati, contributing three assists during his time there.

Colorado Rapids president Padraig Smith welcomed the arrival, praising the defender’s experience and leadership qualities. He said:

Chidozie is a leader and a powerful defender with vast experience in Europe and on the international stage.

Smith added that the club expects Awaziem to strengthen their backline as they build on a strong 2024 campaign, noting:
