Atalanta have received encouraging news over Ademola Lookman’s fitness, with the Nigerian forward expected to return to action before the end of February after recovering from a knee injury.
Softfootball understands the winger is progressing well and could be available for Atalanta’s Serie A fixture against Empoli later this month.
Lookman sustained the injury shortly before Atalanta’s UEFA Champions League clash with Barcelona, forcing him to miss several important matches across domestic and European competitions. His absence has been a significant setback for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, given the forward’s impressive form this season.

According to the latest fitness update, the Super Eagles star is targeting a comeback around February 23, although he is expected to miss both legs of Atalanta’s Champions League knockout tie against Belgian side Club Brugge.
The 27-year-old has been one of Atalanta’s standout performers this campaign, registering 14 goals and seven assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.
His return will provide a major boost as the club continues its push for success in Serie A while also competing on the European stage during the closing months of the season.
