Aston Villa suffered a frustrating Europa League hangover after being held to a 2–2 draw by already relegated Burnley FC at Turf Moor, Softfootball reports.
Just days after securing a place in the Europa League final with a dominant 4–0 second-leg victory over Nottingham Forest, Villa struggled to maintain momentum against a Burnley side that had lost five consecutive matches coming into the game.
Jaidon Anthony gave Burnley an early lead after reacting quickest to a rebound from Emiliano Martínez’s save. Villa responded through Ross Barkley and Ollie Watkins to briefly take control, but Zian Flemming struck in the second half to secure a point for the Clarets.

The result means Villa are still not guaranteed UEFA Champions League qualification through the league, despite remaining four points ahead of Bournemouth with only two matches left to play.
The result brought a lot of mixed reactions from fans:
garry taman says the match was so frustrating and emphasized on how Aston villa couldn’t beat a relegation team
So frustrating. Aaaaarrrgghhh. How you cannot beat a relegated team that would rather be anywhere than playing a game is just not understandable. Was a definite pen on Buendia. And Rogers will drive me insane before the end of the season
scollins says Aston villa also fail to win in crucial games
How can we not look up for that? And we always fail in crucial games with a Mistake of some sort dicking around at the back. Do they never learn their lessons on when to keep the ball and when to just get Rid? Need City to do Bournemouth now. Could turn out to be a crucial point
lazy performance from villa, the leprechaun says
Another lazy ass performance.pathetic
chettysberg called it a poor performance
1 to 11 were poor today, don’t deserve champions league haven’t been good enough since losing against Everton to be Frank. Everything rests on Europa and perhaps City beating Bournemouth

awais Mahmood calls out poor officiating
We was robbed of 2 pens man disgraceful referee should have that game flip sake man
Vince boorman calls out unai emery for being clueless
Another piss poor performance. Emery is clueless again. Bringing on Bailey and Bogarde when you’re trying to win a game
The draw continues a mixed run for Unai Emery’s side, who earlier this month also suffered a damaging 2–1 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, a result that helped Spurs climb out of the relegation zone.
