Softfootball can confirm that Ollie Watkins has officially completed his transfer from Aston Villa to Al Hilal, bringing an end to his successful spell at the Premier League club.
The 30-year-old England international joins the Saudi Pro League side in a deal reportedly worth around £50 million plus add-ons, with Watkins now set to begin a new chapter in Saudi Arabia.
The move follows earlier reports that Watkins was keen to join Al Hilal, with negotiations between the clubs progressing after the striker made his preference clear. Aston Villa eventually agreed to sanction his departure after securing a replacement in Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea.
Watkins leaves Villa after an impressive five-year spell at the club. Since joining from Brentford in 2020, the forward made 278 appearances and scored 108 goals, establishing himself as one of Villa’s most important attacking players.
His goals and consistency played a major role in Villa’s progress in recent seasons, while his performances also helped him become a regular member of the England setup.
