Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has given the all-clear for Ethan Nwaneri to start against Nottingham Forest in today’s Premier League fixture. The 17-year-old had raised concerns after being substituted during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to West Ham, leading to speculation about his availability.

Initial reports suggested fatigue might be the issue, but further assessment this week has ruled out any significant problem.

Softfootball gathered that Arteta addressed the situation directly with reporters, explaining the medical reasoning behind the earlier change. He said:

Ethan, he was just cramping (against West Ham). Obviously his loads has been very different in recent weeks, but he is fine.

The clarification comes as a boost for Arsenal, who are looking to bounce back from their loss at the London Stadium.

Nwaneri’s increased playing time has seen his physical demands spike, but the club is confident he has recovered sufficiently for the trip to the City Ground. His inclusion will be key as the Gunners aim to maintain pressure on the top of the table.
