Tolu Arokodare delivered another outstanding performance, scoring once and providing an assist as Genk edged St. Truiden 3-2 in an entertaining Belgian Pro League clash on Sunday.

Softfootball added that the Nigerian striker continues to justify his growing reputation with another decisive display, helping Genk strengthen their position at the top of the league standings.

Arokodare opened the scoring in the 18th minute after St. Truiden had been reduced to 10 men just three minutes earlier following an early red card.

The 23-year-old then turned provider on the stroke of half-time, setting up Genk’s third goal to cap a brilliant first-half performance.

His latest contribution takes his tally to seven league goals and one assist in 11 appearances this season, making him one of the standout performers in the Belgian top flight.

The victory saw Genk move five points clear of second-placed Royal Antwerp with 25 points, reinforcing their title ambitions.

Arokodare has enjoyed steady progress since joining Genk. After scoring just twice in 11 league games during the 2022/23 campaign, he improved significantly with 12 goals in 40 appearances last season and has carried that momentum into the current campaign.

The striker began his football journey in Nigeria with Kash Academy and Flying Sports Academy in Festac before continuing his development at the Segun Odegbami International College and Sports Academy. He later moved to Box2Box FC in Surulere, Lagos, where he earned trials with SC Freiburg and Toulouse.

Arokodare joined Latvian side Valmiera in 2019 before securing a loan move to Bundesliga club FC Köln in 2020. He later spent time with French side Amiens before establishing himself as one of Genk’s most important attacking players.
