Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare continued his fine goalscoring form after finding the net in Genk’s 2-0 away victory over Gent in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League on Sunday.
The Nigerian forward maintained his impressive start to the season, taking his league tally to eight goals and one assist in 12 appearances. Softfootball understands that Arokodare has now scored in consecutive league matches after also getting on the scoresheet in Genk’s 3-2 victory over St. Truiden last weekend.

The 23-year-old wasted no time after the restart, breaking the deadlock just one minute into the second half with a composed finish to hand Genk a deserved lead.
Genk doubled their advantage in the 58th minute when Jarne Steuckers calmly converted from the penalty spot to put the visitors firmly in control.
Arokodare’s afternoon ended in the 78th minute as he was replaced by South Korean forward Oh Hyeon-gyu after another productive outing in front of goal.
Fellow Nigerian Yira Sor was also involved for Genk, coming off the bench in the 78th minute. Sor has now made 11 league appearances this season and has registered one goal.
The victory strengthened Genk’s grip on top spot in the Belgian Pro League standings. They now lead the table with 28 points, opening up a five-point advantage over second-placed Royal Antwerp.
Arokodare’s rich vein of form will also be encouraging for the Super Eagles coaching crew as the striker continues to stake his claim for a regular place in Nigeria’s attack ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
