Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has vowed his side will show Real Mallorca the utmost respect ahead of their Supercopa clash, despite being firm favourites heading into the tie.
Madrid enter the competition full of confidence, but Ancelotti was quick to praise the quality of Jagoba Arrasate’s Mallorca side during his pre-match remarks.
Softfootball reports that the Italian addressed the matchup while speaking to AS. He said:
We have a lot of respect for their quality and the work of the coach.
We have to respect them to the maximum. Jagoba’s teams are very well trained.
He knew how to take advantage of the qualities of his players perfectly.
Ancelotti also spoke about the significance of the Supercopa as the season’s first trophy on offer, insisting his squad is fully motivated heading into the tournament. He added:
It is an important competition. It is the first competition of the year. It has brought us a lot of motivation.
We hope that this Supercopa will bring us motivation and commitment.
