Alex Iwobi has called on his Fulham teammates to put their disappointing London derby defeat behind them and focus on the next challenge. The Cottagers suffered a 3-2 loss to West Ham United despite the Nigerian midfielder scoring both of his side’s goals in an entertaining Premier League encounter at the London Stadium.
Fulham created enough chances to avoid defeat but were punished for costly defensive mistakes during the game. Softfootball understands Iwobi believes the team must quickly recover mentally, with another important league fixture approaching in the coming days.
Reflecting on the defeat, Iwobi said:
We’re all disappointed the way we lost the game, just mistakes. Had we not made the mistakes, we would have won it.
He added:
There’s a game around the corner and so we cannot dwell on it, we dust ourselves and go again. We created so many chances, but if you don’t defend as a team, you get punished.
Iwobi has now contributed seven goals and three assists this season and will be hoping to inspire Fulham back to winning ways when they face Leicester City.
