Nigeria-eligible forward Chuba Akpom has completed his loan move from Ajax to French Ligue 1 side Lille for the remainder of the season.
The 29-year-old joins the former French champions after struggling to secure consistent playing time in Amsterdam, with Lille also holding an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the campaign.
According to Softfootball, Lille won the race for Akpom’s signature after facing competition from several clubs across Europe for the experienced striker.
Akpom joined Ajax from Championship side Middlesbrough in 2023 following a remarkable campaign in which he scored 29 goals in 42 appearances and was named the division’s best player.

His first season in the Netherlands produced 15 goals in 36 appearances, but his opportunities have become more limited this term due to competition for places.
The forward has scored eight goals in the Eredivisie and added four more in the UEFA Europa League this season.
Akpom will now hope the move to France provides him with the regular football needed to rediscover his best form and make a strong impact during the second half of the campaign.
