Borussia Dortmund have completed a deal to sign highly rated Brazilian left-back Kauã Prates from Cruzeiro, Softfootball reports. The agreement has been confirmed exclusively by Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle.
Romano’s statement:
Borussia Dortmund complete deal to sign Kaua Prates from Cruzeiro, here we go! €7m initial fee, €5m add-ons for Brazilian left back to join from June 2026 after medical done today. All documents are in place.

The transfer will see Dortmund pay an initial €7 million fee, with a further €5 million in add-ons. All documents are in place, and the 17-year-old is undergoing the first stages of his medical after leaving his hotel at 8:34 a.m.
He is also expected to be present at the stadium later this evening. Prates will officially join the Bundesliga side in June 2026.

Standing at 1.84m, Prates is viewed as a physically imposing full-back with strong crossing ability — an area Dortmund have struggled with in recent seasons.
The move comes amid inconsistency from Ramy Bensebaini, who has lost his starting place to Daniel Svensson, prompting the club to invest in a long-term solution.
With a contract set to run until 2031, Dortmund are clearly betting on Prates as a future cornerstone in defence. Having followed in the footsteps of talents like Ronaldo and Vitor Roque at Cruzeiro, expectations around his potential are high.
still at Dortmund, the club remain delighted with Julian Ryerson’s form, with the Norwegian emerging as one of Europe’s most productive wing-backs this season.
In Spain, Atlético Madrid have confirmed that Nicolás González has suffered a thigh muscle injury, creating uncertainty ahead of their upcoming fixtures.
