2 Min Read

There has been growing debate among fans over who is better between Ademola Lookman and Mohammed Kudus. While many supporters describe the comparison as baseless, Softfootball has taken time to examine key factors behind the discussion.

First, in terms of individual recognition, Ademola Lookman holds a clear advantage. He has won the African Player of the Year award, while Mohammed Kudus has not. Lookman was also nominated for the Ballon d’Or and made the top 8 shortlist, whereas as of Wednesday, 11th February 2026, Kudus has not received a nomination.

Lookman’s career trajectory has also been significant. On 1 February 2026, Atlético Madrid announced they had reached an agreement with Atalanta for his transfer. He signed a four-and-a-half-year contract and made an immediate impact, scoring on his debut in a 5–0 away win over Real Betis in the Copa del Rey.

During his time at Atalanta, Lookman delivered on the biggest stage, scoring a hat-trick in the Europa League final. Internationally, he has also been influential, guiding Nigeria to a second-place finish at AFCON 2023 and a third-place finish at AFCON 2025.

Kudus remains a top talent with strong technical ability and attacking threat, but when measured by major trophies, awards, Ballon d’Or recognition and decisive performances in finals, Lookman currently holds the stronger profile.

The debate may continue among fans, but based on achievements and impact in crucial moments, Softfootball believes Ademola Lookman has the edge at this stage.
