Since Rosenior took over in January 2026, Acheampong’s role has quietly changed. he featured in Chelsea’s recent 2-0 victory against Brentford following their 3-2 EFL Cup defeat to Arsenal
Rosenior has been especially impressed with Acheampong’s versatility. The young defender can operate as a left-back, left centre-back, right centre-back, in midfield, and even out wide on the wing.
Under the previous manager, Enzo Maresca, his chances were limited, which didn’t sit well with a section of the Chelsea fanbase. Many felt the youngster deserved more trust.
Rosenior seems to agree. He has openly said he will keep pushing Acheampong and demanding higher standards from him, which says a lot about how much faith he has in the defender’s ceiling.
There’s been some transfer talk, with Crystal Palace and other London clubs reportedly keeping an eye on the situation. Still, Chelsea aren’t interested. Sources close to the club insist Acheampong is not for sale. A loan move has been mentioned as an option, but the club prefers to keep his pathway clear at Stamford Bridge.
