Atletico Madrid fans unimpressed despite Diego Simeone’s men reaching the Copa del Rey quarter-finals, Softfootball reports.

On Tuesday night, Atletico defeated Deportivo La Coruña 1-0 at the Estadio de Riazor courtesy a goal from club veteran and France World Cup winner, Antoine Griezmann with a brilliant freekick in the 61st minute.

Atletico Madrid celebrated the win via their official X handle as they made it to another quarter-final appearance in Spain’s second tier club competition after the LaLiga. They posted:

Atletico sold Conor Gallagher to Tottenham Hotspur for €40m but still have enough firepower to withstand the pressure from the home team. It was a win but not all the fans were impressed by their showing as they struggled in parts of the encounter in a game they were rated massive favourites.

A fan identified with the username @juligan1903 poured out his anger over the poor display of Atletico despite the win.

It’s a shame in this type of matches, the only good thing is that we’ve won. We have to start not suffering in matches against inferior rivals, otherwise nothing will ever be won.

@reno85485111 was pissed that a certain player was asking the assistant referee for the time left in the game.

It’s embarrassing to be asking for the time with a Second REF! Molina not one more day, it’s horrible to suffer it every time the Influencer brings him out. Julián? To the psychologist. Sorloth, Grizzi, Musso, Pubill, and Hancko are saved. The rest, time to cry.

@Oscaraleti was just happy with the results and that was it. And pointed to the fact that injuries are affecting the team.

We won and that’s it, why is there a lack of everything on this team? If we want to be 4 eliminated in the Champions League round of 16 and eliminated in the cup in semis, sign whatever you want, but if we want to fight for something, we’re missing 2 wingers, one for each flank, a quality midfielder, and a fullback, but you have to be blind not to see it.

@AguArrieta21 wonder for how long will the team keep playing terrible football.

How long are we going to keep playing like this with the squad we have? I love the Cholo, but that’s it, we can’t play this horribly with the squad we have. Unwatchable the matches lately.

@srmelantuche targeted a player for criticism.

Ruggeri keeps seeming like a worse player to me every time, he’s not good in attack, nor in defense, nor in transitions. That’s the only clear conclusion I draw today, apart from the fact that Molina’s thing borders on ridiculous, and Julián continues to be awful. We have to sign players, yes or yes, there’s no other option.

Atletico Madrid return to LaLiga action when they host Alaves in the Match-Day 20 of LaLiga on Sunday.
