AC Milan have officially confirmed the signing of German striker Niclas Füllkrug on loan from West Ham United, with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season. The deal sees the Rossoneri strengthen their attacking depth as they push to maintain momentum in Serie A, a move reported when Milan agreed terms for a loan deal with a buy option.

The transfer was completed after Füllkrug made it clear that his priority was a switch to San Siro rather than a return to the Bundesliga, as reported by SoftFootball.
The 32-year-old had already been training at Milanello in recent days, signalling how keen he was on the move, and his desire to join Milan ahead of other suitors played a key role in finalising the agreement. As shared on the club’s official X account, Füllkrug joins AC Milan on a loan deal that runs until June 2026, with no obligation to buy.

The Rossoneri hold an option to sign him permanently for a reported fee of €5 million, a figure that represents a low-risk investment given his experience at the top level. Milan will cover the striker’s wages during the loan spell, while West Ham benefit from easing their salary commitments as they reshape their squad.
Born in Hanover on February 9, 1993, Füllkrug built his career in Germany, featuring for Greuther Fürth, Nürnberg and Hannover 96 before enjoying a productive spell at Werder Bremen.

His reputation grew significantly during the 2023 to 2024 season with Borussia Dortmund, where he scored 15 goals in 42 appearances and started in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
That form earned him a move to West Ham, but his time in the Premier League proved difficult. Injuries and limited opportunities restricted his impact, with just three league goals in 29 appearances since his arrival in London. A fresh start in Italy now offers him the chance to rediscover confidence and rhythm.

At Milan, Füllkrug will wear the number 9 shirt and provide a physical presence in attack. Head coach Massimiliano Allegri is expected to integrate him quickly, with the German forward likely to feature in the upcoming league clash against Cagliari as Milan look to extend their unbeaten run.
