AC Milan remain confident of reaching an agreement with Luka Modrić as they continue working to secure the Croatian midfielder’s signature.

New manager Rúben Amorim has spoken with Modrić again and is already planning his Milan squad with the experienced midfielder playing a key role in his vision for the club.

A final decision is expected soon, with Modrić carefully weighing the proposal alongside his family before determining the next step in his career.

Softfootball reported earlier in June that Rúben Amorim had reached a verbal agreement to become AC Milan’s new head coach on a contract running until June 2028, with an option to extend for a further year.

The former United manager has accepted all conditions and will sign as the new AC Milan head coach, marking the beginning of a new technical era at the club.

With Amorim now leading the project, Milan are optimistic they can convince Modrić to bring his wealth of experience and winning mentality to San Siro ahead of the 2026/27 season.
