The Egyptian goalkeeper, Mohamed El Shenawy has been outstanding in the three matches he has played so far in the tournament. At 36 years old, he has shown that he can still hold his own. Old wine indeed tastes better.

For defenders, Manchester United’s Noussair Mazraoui has een brilliant for Morocco, same as Axel Tuanzebe for DR Congo, Bayer Levekusen’s Edmond Tapsoba even got a goal for Burkina Faso and continues to shine while Yahia Attiat-Allah El Abdi, another Moroccan has been very good in the tournament so far.

In midfielder, Real Madrid star Brahim Diaz leads the way and his goal on the opening day of the tournament helped Morocco to a 2-0 win over a stubborn Comoros side. Manchester United’s target Carlos Baleba has been a workaholic and strong for Cameroon while Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman has been scoring with ease for the Super Eagles.

The forwards named in the best XI are just ballers. Former Manchester City player, Riyad Mahrez has so far been the inspiration for Algeria. Manchester United winger, Amad Diallo scored on the opening day win over Mozambique and curled in a great goal when Ivory Coast drew 1-1 against Cameroon and Sadio Mané is part of the reason why Senegal are considered favorite for this tournament.

Eric Chelle is the Coach picked for this squad and it’s because of how he has managed the Super Eagles to nine points in three match and how confident and organized his team is at the tournament so far.
