Serie A giants, AS Roma are currently in talks to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United in January, Softfootball reports.

The Dutch international has failed to nail down a regular shirt in Ruben Amorim’s team and on Sunday evening he was a second half substitute as Manchester United fell 2-1 to Aston Villa in the premier league Match-Day 17.

According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, revealed that Roma are keen on signing the former Bayern Munich forward. He said:

AS Roma are advancing in talks with Joshua Zirkzee on personal terms as top target for January. Deal still depends on #MUFC decision as Roma want Zirkzee as soon as possible……but Man United have several players out for injury/AFCON.

Zirkzee, who trained with Manchester United youngsters during an international break is used to the Serie A as he was top scorer for Bologna before he moved to Manchester United and last summer was wanted by another Serie A side Juventus.

Zirkee is known for his unique blend of physicality, playmaking skills, and dribbling ability, he’s primarily a forward/attacking midfielder, providing an exciting, versatile option, though his 2025/2026 season has seen him used mostly as a substitute with a goal and some key moments in the league and Europa League, despite some injuries.

Manchester United are looking to rebuild their midfield and selling Zirkzee may help bring in the money needed for the project.
