In the build-up to the encounter, the Super Eagles media team shared a video on the team’s official X handle showing players actively engaged in training sessions in Cairo. The footage highlights the squad’s focus and intensity as they fine-tune tactics ahead of the clash.

Softfootball can confirm the presence of several key players in the training video, including Stanley Nwabali, Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Ademola Lookman, Francis Uzoho, and other members of the squad. However, the starting eleven for tonight’s match has not been confirmed at this time.
The friendly encounter forms part of Nigeria’s preparations for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is set to kick off on Sunday, December 21, 2025, and run until Sunday, January 18, 2026.
Nigeria will begin their AFCON campaign against Tanzania in Group C, Matchday 1 of the group stage. Tonight’s match against Egypt is expected to provide the technical crew with valuable insight into player readiness and team chemistry ahead of the continental showdown.
