Tottenham End Winless Run With 2-0 Victory Over Brentford

Softfootball reports that Tottenham Hotspur finally ended their five-game Premier League winless streak with a convincing 2-0 victory over Brentford. The North Londoners looked composed and clinical, making the most of their chances while keeping a clean sheet for the third time this season.

In the pre-match report we expected Tottenham to try to overturn their recently abysmal home run that has seen them lose three straight home games, and they did with what many will call a statement performance to back the dramatic 2-2 draw they secured against Newcastle last time out.

Guglielmo Vicario, who had been jeered by some Spurs fans after an earlier mistake against Fulham, started brightly, pulling off a crucial stop to deny Brentford’s in-form Igor Thiago at the near post.

Tottenham wasted no time capitalizing, and just a minute later, Richarlison opened the scoring in the 25th minute.

The Brazilian striker tapped in Xavi Simons’s squared ball after the Dutchman had raced onto Pedro Porro’s perfectly-weighted pass, slicing through Brentford’s defence with ease.

Simons then added the second goal just before halftime, producing a fine solo effort. Winning possession in his own half, he drove forward, beat the Brentford defenders, and slotted a low shot past Caoimhín Kelleher, claiming his first Premier League goal and rounding off a dominant opening 45 minutes for Spurs.

He spoke to the media after the game in a video uploaded via the team’s official X account, where he expressed satisfaction with the three points and his role in securing victory.

The second half saw Brentford trying to respond, but mistakes kept them at bay. Nathan Collins nearly gifted Tottenham a third when Djed Spence went one-on-one, but Kelleher’s strong save kept the deficit at two.

Mohammed Kudus had a goal ruled out for offside late on, while Thiago’s late chance whistled past the post, underlining Brentford’s frustrating day.

Spurs climb to eighth in the table with their fourth successive head-to-head victory over the Bees. Frank’s former employers, meanwhile, drop to 14th after their fourth consecutive road defeat, continuing a difficult away run.

Tottenham fans can finally breathe easier, knowing their team broke the winless streak while sending a clear message that they’re ready to push back into the top half.
