Like every other Premier League club, Wolves has its own problems and faces the urgent need to have them fixed and restore the team’s much needed stability.
With the heat of fans’ anger mainly centered on Fosun’s ownership and Jeff Shi, all eyes rest on the new head coach, Rob Edwards to work his magic and heal the fractured squad. This is undoubtedly a task that comes with some pressure and a lot of careful work.

Under the management of Vitor Pereira before he was sacked, Wolves had only been able to get away with just two points in 10 Premier League matches and conceding 25 goals. This has left them sitting at the bottom of the table this season.
Softfootball earlier reported Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over Wolves at Stamford which has now added to their run of winless matches.
During Edwards’ only full-time Premier League managerial duty with Luton Town, he guided them to promotion via the Championship play-off final for their first top-flight season in 2023/2024.
Although Luton Town were relegated after that single campaign Edwards’ wonderful achievements can be more emphasized. While at Middlesbrough, Edwards led them to second place in the Championship before he moved to Wolves.
He even earned the EFL Championship manager of the month in August 2025. Edwards had played for Wolves from 2004 to 2008.
From 2018 to 2019, Rob Edwards was the head coach of Wolves U23, leading them to promotion to Premier League 2 Division 1 which is the highest level of youth football, for the first time in the history of the club.
These familiar grounds and strong links to Wolves brings hope for positive change. His long-term contract of three and half years would give him time to rebuild the club.
Now, Edwards is back to the club where his football roots lie, tasked to pull them up from the bottom and he is willing to take up this challenge. He has what it takes to heal the fractured squad, but success largely depends on time, trust and support from both players and club’s hierarchy.
A video shared in the club’s official X handle shows Rob Edwards arriving at Compton with joy and laughter.
