Moisés Caicedo Turns 24: A Rising Midfield Maestro Celebrates in Style

3 Min Read

Today, November 2, 2025, marks Moisés Caicedo’s 24th birthday, and what better way to celebrate than by producing a midfield masterclass in Chelsea’s gritty 1–0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Ecuadorian dynamo was simply everywhere, intercepting passes, controlling rhythm, and snuffing out danger before Spurs could even blink. His performance earned him the Man of the Match award, and rightly so.

Since joining Chelsea in 2023 for a then-record £115 million from Brighton & Hove Albion, Softfootball reports Caicedo has gradually grown into one of the Premier League’s most complete midfielders. Under Enzo Maresca, he’s no longer just the destroyer; he’s the orchestrator too. His ability to win the ball and instantly switch play has been crucial this season, with four goals and one assist and the highest pass completion rate among Chelsea’s midfielders.

Caicedo’s mentality was evident in his post-match reaction, where he urged his team to ensure that they maintain the spirit shown against spurs and the standards that have become inconsistent with this team. Chelsea uploaded the video via their official X account.

Against Spurs, Caicedo was unplayable. He made seven ball recoveries, three interceptions, and even pulled off a vital block late on to preserve the clean sheet. Sources close to Softfootball revealed that he became the first Chelsea player since N’Golo Kanté in 2018 to record more than six tackles while maintaining over 90% passing accuracy in a North London Derby. Not bad company for the young Ecuadorian.

Chelsea wished the player happy birthday in a post made on X, referencing how important the Ecuadorian is to the team.

They posted:

Off the field, Caicedo continues to win hearts. His newly launched foundation in Santo Domingo, Ecuador, supports grassroots football and underprivileged youth, a testament to his humility and connection to his roots.

As Chelsea chase a top-four finish, Caicedo’s performances are more than just a celebration; they’re a reminder that he’s not only the present of Chelsea’s midfield but also a massive part of its future.
