Liverpool’s Record Triumph, Salah’s Magic, and a New Premier League Era Begins

3 Min Read

The 2024–25 Premier League season ended in wild fashion, and what a ride it was. Liverpool, under new boss Arne Slot, stormed their way to a record-equalling 20th English top-flight crown, finishing with 84 points. They didn’t just win; they owned it. You could feel the energy at Anfield as fans lifted their scarves high in a scene that defined the season’s spirit. They seem to be struggling this time, with their fourth loss in a row coming against Manchester United.

Liverpool’s success came through structure and belief. Slot, who succeeded Jürgen Klopp, guided the team to a remarkable 26-match unbeaten run, the longest of the season. Their attacking efficiency, balanced defence, and squad depth proved decisive. Manchester City faltered after Rodri’s long-term injury, while Arsenal’s inconsistency denied them a stronger title push.

Mohamed Salah was the heartbeat of it all — 29 goals, 18 assists, and endless brilliance. He didn’t just score; he created, led, and rewrote history. Salah became the first player ever to both score and assist in 11 matches during a single Premier League season. With 47 total goal involvements, he rightfully claimed the Player of the Season title and climbed to fifth on the all-time scorer’s list — just two shy of Andy Cole.

Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest’s Matz Sels pulled off 13 clean sheets to seal an unexpected 7th-place finish, while Fulham’s Antonee Robinson dazzled with 10 assists from left-back. Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka also shone bright, even in a mixed campaign, maintaining the highest average player rating at 7.80.

But not everyone left smiling. Leicester City, Ipswich Town, and Southampton crashed out, while Tottenham survived only by winning the Europa League final—snatching a Champions League spot despite finishing 17th.

As the 2025–26 season kicks off, new rules have shaken things up — goalkeepers now have 8 seconds to release the ball, captains are the only ones allowed to speak to referees, and VAR decisions are explained live in stadiums. Arsenal’s improved defensive setup has already sparked talk of a new title charge, as Softfootball earlier reported on if this might finally be their year.

A Premier League post via their official X account shows the Matchweek 8 table with Arsenal leading at 19 points after a 1-0 win over Fulham, three points ahead of Manchester City.
