Juventus and AC Milan battle to tense goalless draw in Turin

4 Min Read

Juventus and AC Milan could not be separated in a cagey 0-0 draw at the Allianz Stadium, a result that stretches the Bianconeri’s unbeaten run in Serie A but also marks a fifth successive draw for them in all competitions, Softfootball reports.

For Massimiliano Allegri, this was an emotional return to Turin for the first time since taking over Milan, and his team arrived full of confidence after their huge 2-1 victory over Napoli last weekend, a win hard fought despite being reduced to 10 men in the second half. That mentality showed again in the early stages as the Rossoneri looked comfortable absorbing pressure and waiting for their moments to counter.

Christian Pulisic provided the first real opportunity of the game, driving from deep into the Juve box after stealing possession, but his footing gave way just as he set himself up to shoot. Santiago Giménez, who led the line with energy, also threatened before the break, forcing Michele Di Gregorio into a save and later flashing a header just wide. Juve, by contrast, struggled to fashion anything clear-cut, Jonathan David slipping at the crucial moment in their best opening of the half.

The tempo lifted after the restart. Federico Gatti came closest to breaking the deadlock, rising inside the six-yard box only to be denied by a stunning reaction save from Mike Maignan. Milan almost punished that miss when Luka Modrić floated a clever pass into the area and Lloyd Kelly bundled into Giménez, but Pulisic failed to keep his composure from the penalty spot skewing his strike wide in a decisive moment.

Milan, who had scored first in six of their previous seven outings, continued to press for the opener. Substitute Rafael Leão twice had the chance to steal it late on, first with a cheeky chip from halfway that just missed the target, and then with two scuffed finishes in the final minutes that let Juve off the hook.

Meanwhile, before the game Juventus via their official X handle, presented the player of the month award as voted by fans to the winner Dusan Vlahovic, the striker who was rumoured to be on his way out of the club earlier in the summer, has found his rhythm and has been Juventus most consistent performer for the month of september.

The Bianconeri fans will be hoping the striker maintains this form throughout the season as they have alot of games and competitions to look forward too, watch the presentation video below;

For Juventus, this result will feel like another missed opportunity. Having drawn 2-2 with Villarreal in the Champions League last midweek, it’s now back-to-back stalemates for Igor Tudor’s men, who are struggling to turn unbeaten runs into wins. meanwhile, Milan sees their five-game winning streak in all competitions come to an end but remain firmly in the title conversations, sitting two points off the top of the table.
