FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick praised his side’s fighting spirit despite the disappointing 4-1 defeat to Sevilla at the Sánchez Pizjuán on Saturday night, Softfootball reports.

The Catalans came into the clash on the back of a painful 2-1 loss to PSG in the Champions League in midweek, and were looking to bounce back to winning ways. However, things didn’t go according to plan as Sevilla proved to be the better side on the day, leaving Flick’s men to back-to-back defeats.

Speaking after the game to the press via the team’s official website, Flick admitted it was a painful loss but insisted lessons can be learned, the german coach said;

We have to accept this defeat and look at the positive side, In the first half we made a lot of mistakes, but in the second half we were able to react.

The international break this October will do us good, when the players come back from their national teams, we’ll work hard to help them regain their best form.

Despite the disappointment, the coach struck a note of optimism, highlighting the importance of resilience in tough moments, he said;

Flick was particularly encouraged by his team’s response after going behind, noting:

The first half wasn’t good they played very aggressively one-on-one and we couldn’t find the solution. The second half was better, but Sevilla scored more goals. After this defeat it’s important that we stick together. We are a good team, and when we return from the international break, we’ll fight for every title.
