Mixed reactions from fans after Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Mourinho’s Benfica

3 Min Read

Fans gave a mixed reaction following Chelsea’s victory over Benfica in the Match-Day 2 of the UEFA Champions League, Softfootball reports.

The Blues had lost back-to-back premier league fixtures, losing against Manchester United and Brighton but bounced back to winning ways against former manager, Jose Mourinho on Tuesday night. Chelsea beat Benfica 1-0 at Stamford Bridge to erase the disappointment of losing 3-1 to Bayern Munich on the opening day of the Champions League.

After the game, Chelsea celebrated the win on their official X handle but not all the fans enjoyed the win.

@GhanaYesu_ was obviously disappointed with the performance of the expensively assembled Chelsea squad and questioned.

Red against Man United, Crystal Palace and Benfica. What’s happening? Lucky the red came very late tonight. #CFC

@Honorthyhussle joined in on the conversation. He said:

Good game, but we tend to slow somehow after taking the lead. We need more pressure, more attacks and more speed after taking the lead. We can’t relax after 1-0 up. It’s always a tricky spot. Benfica even looked like they’d equalize at some point. It’s just that they were never really in that game. Huge 3 points though.👏

@TheFootyRhymes added:

At Stamford Bridge the story was told,

Not by a strike, but a slip of bold.

R. Rios’ miscue, the net betrayed,

Chelsea smiled, the points were made.

Garnacho’s spark, misfortune’s call,

The Blues still win and that’s football.

But no time to rest, no time to dwell.

Liverpool await a Premier League duel to sell.

Chelsea will return to action in the premier league against Liverpool on Saturday as they hope to climb the table from their current eighth
