Manchester City defeated host Huddersfield 2-0 to extend their stay in the EFL Cup on Wednesday evening at the John Smith’s Stadium, Softfootball can report.

Phil Foden, who led the team’s attack, was the hero of the night, scoring and creating an assist for Savinho to make City winners on Wednesday evening. Watch Foden’s goal below as revealed on City’s official X handle:

Foden’s performance on Wednesday night was similar to what he did against Napoli last week in the Champions League, whereby he was able to create an assist for a teammate. Foden, in the second half, assisted Savinho to register his first goal of the season with a through pass that went directly to the Brazilian, who then blasted the Huddersfield goalkeeper, Lee Nicholls, in the 74th minute. Meanwhile, academy graduate Divine Muskara proved his worth in the evening as he marked his debut start with an assist for Foden.
However, Huddersfield had only rare glimpses of opportunity, most notably when Zépiqueno Redmond fired over from inside City’s box, a chance that highlighted just how costly any miss would be against such dominance. Foden nearly added an assist when he picked out Rico Lewis with a superb pass, though his teammate was late to finish.
Manchester City’s next EFL game will be against Swansea at the Etihad Stadium next weekend.
