At full-time against Espanyol, the official X handle of Real Madrid shared this post celebrating their win.

Before the encounter it was inevitable that the Los Blancos were absolute favourite to win the match, having won 25 out of 27 times against their opponents at home. The last time Espanyol had a shock win over Real Madrid at home was back in 1996.

Real Madrid dominated the encounter in front of home fans despite missing former Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold due to a muscle injury. Also missing are Dean Huijsen, Ferland Mendy and Antonio Rudiger while Brian Olivan and Jose Gragera are both out for the away side, whilst Pere Milla is suspended.

Militao gave the home side the lead in the first half with a powerful shot from outside the box to make it 1-0 for Real Madrid. Then at the restart of the second half, Mbappé made it 2-0 with a right foot shot from outside the box. It was the seventh goal for the Frenchman in all competitions this season.
