Enzo Maresca hints Garnacho could start for Chelsea against Manchester United

Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca has hinted that Alejandro Garnacho is set to start against his former club Manchester United when they clash at Old Trafford on Saturday, Softfootball reports.

The Argentine left the Red Devils in the summer for Stamford Bridge after falling out with Coach Ruben Amorim. The former Atletico Madrid academy graduate was furious that Amorim didn’t start him in the Europa League final which Manchester United eventually lost 1-0 to Tottenham.

That move infuriated Amorim, who ordered him to look for a new club and despite interest from Bayern Munich, the winger chose Chelsea instead.

Fabrizio Romano on his official X handle shared Maresca’s update on his squad and the Italian touched on Garnacho’s likely role on Saturday. He said:

Ale Garnacho vs Man United? I think he’s ready to start. In the last two games, he was inside very good. We are happy in the way he is adapting to our style.

Chelsea suffered a heavy 3-1 defeat against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in the opening match of the UEFA Champions League. The FIFA Club World Cup champions will hope to maintain their unbeaten record in the premier league when they face Manchester United on Saturday.

Chelsea are currently in fifth position in the Premier League table with eight points after four games and Manchester United has just four points in 14th position after the same number of matches.
