Barcelona’s Andreas Christensen marked his comeback to the Denmark national team in style, scoring in their 3-0 win against Greece on Monday night in World Cup qualifying.
Christensen, who started and played the full 90 minutes in Barcelona’s recent draw away to Rayo Vallecano, has been out of the international picture for more than a year due to an Achilles injury.
He scored Denmark’s second goal just after the hour mark. Picking up the ball near midfield, he kept going before striking from distance. The shot curled into the corner, leaving the goalkeeper stranded.

Denmark’s national team media called it a cold strike on their official X account. They posted:
With an ice-cold strike from outside the box, Andreas Christensen makes it 2-0 in his 75th appearance for the national team.
Come on, boys!
Earlier, Mikkel Damsgaard had given Denmark the lead in the first half, while Rasmus Højlund sealed the points with a third late on. The victory keeps Brian Riemer’s side at the top of Group C and in control of their qualifying campaign.
For Christensen, the moment carried extra weight. Softfootball understands that he had not played a competitive game for his country since Euro 2024, where he limped off in the round of 16. Injuries ruled him out for almost the entire 2024/25 season, and he only returned to action recently with Barcelona, playing a short cameo against Levante.
The 29-year-old will now be hoping to stay fit and re-establish himself both with Denmark and at club level. With Íñigo Martínez gone, there’s a good chance he could feature more regularly under Barça coach Hansi Flick.
