Serie A giants, Atalanta has listed Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Ademola Lookman in the squad for their UEFA Champions League campaign, Softfootball reports.

The reigning African Player of the Year was expected to leave the Bergamo outfit this summer for Inter Milan after they made an offer of €40m and agreed personal terms with the Nigerian.

The offer was rejected by Atalanta as they insists on receiving €50 million for Lookman, who has been their standout player for two consecutive seasons, helping the club to back to back Champions League qualifications.

According to Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Lookman will be part of Atalanta’s Champions League campaign for the 2025/26 season.

Fabrizio said:

No move to Turkish Super League was ever considered as option for Ademola Lookman.

He’s been included in Atalanta squad for Champions League.

Atalanta didn’t even consider Bayern proposal for loan with option to buy in last 48h of the window.

Inter Milan full squad for UCL

Goalkeepers: Carnesecchi, Rossi, Sportiello. Defenders: Ahanor, Bellanova, Djimsiti, Hien, Kolasinac, Kossounou, Scalvini, Zappacosta. Midfielders: Bernasconi, Brescianini, De Roon, Ederson, Musah, Pasalic, Samardzic, Zalewski. Attackers: De Ketelaere, Krstovic, Lookman, Maldini, Scamacca, Sulemana.

La Dea are now desperate to repair the relationship with Lookman with was broken during last season when he felt out with manager Gian Gasperini. The Italian has since left to take charge of AS Roma.

Following negotiations with Inter, Lookman made it clear he wanted the move to join the Nerazzurri’s and removed all mentions of Atalanta on his social media profiles and went on strike. Atalanta didn’t burge on their price and Inter eventually pulled out of the deal.

Before the transfer deadline, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich wanted Lookman on loan but Atalanta never gave attention to the proposal as they wanted only an outright sale for €50m.

Lookman is expected to join the Super Eagles in Uyo ahead of Saturday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying showdown with Rwanda. Nigeria then travel to face South Africa on Tuesday.
