After losing horribly to West Ham on match day 3, Nottingham Forest has pulled off a notable academy coup by landing 17-year-old midfielder Chinaza Nwosu from West Ham United, with paperwork due to be completed later today

Softfootball understands that the move, which comes just after the transfer window closed, is seen as a significant coup for Forest, who beat the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur to the England youth international’s signature.

Nwosu, born in 2008, rose through West Ham’s academy after joining at under-nine level. He has represented England at several youth levels, including the Under-17s, and even trained with the Hammers’ senior squad during the summer. Despite West Ham’s attempts to keep him, including the offer of a professional deal, the highly-rated youngster opted to join Forest, a club increasingly recognised for nurturing young talent.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal, stating on his official X handle:

“Nottingham Forest have signed 17-year-old talent Chinaza Nwosu from West Ham, chased by many top clubs. Documents set to be signed today.”

Nwosu becomes the latest addition to Forest’s Nigel Doughty Academy, following signings such as Luke Campbell and Cherif Yaya. His arrival adds to a busy summer for the club, which also saw senior squad reinforcements including Cuiabano, Dilane Bakwa, and Oleksandr Zinchenko before the deadline.

For West Ham, losing one of their brightest prospects is a blow, particularly after fending off interest from top clubs last year. Now, Nottingham Forest will hope the teenager’s development continues on the banks of the Trent.
