Strand Larsen Brace Inspires Wolves’ Comeback Win Over West Ham in Five-Goal Thriller

Wolverhampton Wanderers fans finally have something to cheer about on Tuesday night, after edging West Ham United 3-2 in a gripping EFL Cup tie at Molineux.

Softfootball reports that the whole drama happened late on, when Wolves substitute Jorgen Strand Larsen came off the bench to unexpectedly score twice in the space of two minutes, turning what looked like another frustrating evening into a moment of joy and relief for Gary O’Neil’s side.

Wolves went ahead just before the break, after Hwang Hee-chan saw his penalty come back off the post, but Rodrigo Gomes reacted quickest and tucked away the rebound to lift the spirits of the home crowd.

That advantage didn’t last long after the restart. Tomas Soucek rose highest to nod home Kyle Walker-Peters’ delivery, pulling the visitors level. Things got even worse for Wolves on 63 minutes when Jarrod Bowen whipped in a teasing ball and Lucas Paquetá met it with a firm header to give West Ham the lead.

Just when the Hammers thought they had the game in hand, Strand Larsen was not ready to see Wolves suffer a third straight defeat following the 4-nil thrashing they suffered against City in their last game, and changed the script completely.

The Norwegian showed exactly why Newcastle are keen on his signature. Alphonse Areola parried a shot directly into his path in the 82nd minute, setting up his first goal. The striker and his teammates were rejoicing two minutes later when he finished the spectacular comeback by heading in close.

Wolves admin posted a video of the team’s goal on the club’s official X account.
