Galatasaray have reportedly submitted an opening offer to Porto for goalkeeper Diogo Costa following Fernando Muslera’s departure. The Turkish champions have offered €20m plus bonuses, but Manchester City’s Ederson remains their number one priority this summer.
Softfootball understands that although Ederson missed Manchester City’s opening game of the season against Wolves on Saturday with James Trafford the club’s new number one, Galatasaray are yet to find an agreement with the Premier League club.

The 25-year-old Portuguese goalkeeper’s contract with Porto runs until June 2027, and his current market value is reportedly estimated to be around €40 million. Manchester United and Manchester City have also been linked with the player in recent time.
Galatasaray have stepped up their transfer plans with an official bid for Diogo Costa, according to German football expert Florian Plettenberg via his X account. The update claims that Ederson remains their primary target, though negotiations with Manchester City have yet to show progress.
As a result, the Turkish champions are weighing alternatives, with Costa now emerging as the leading option should the pursuit of the Brazilian fall through. His tweet reads:
“EXCLUSIVE Galatasaray have submitted an official offer for Diogo Costa worth €20 million plus add-ons.
The priority for Galatasaray is still #Ederson. However, an agreement with Man City is not yet in sight. Therefore, Galatasaray are exploring alternatives, and Costa is the top option if Ederson fails. An offer has now been submitted.”
After playing 43 games across all competitions for Porto last season and an appearance in the league already this campaign, it’s likely that Galatasaray’s €20m offer falls short of the Dragoes’ valuation, with the player currently valued around €40m. The 25-year-old also has a contract until 2027 while the Liga Portugal side are in no rush to sell.
In a related post, Softfootball reported earlier that Galatasaray are making a bold attempt to convince Manchester City centre-back Manuel Akanji on a move to Turkey, with the club opening talks to explore the possibility of a transfer.
