Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has given his fans a major update ahead of the new Premier League season. The Reds host Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, with the 2025/26 campaign kicking off at 16:30 BST.
Softfootball understands the Portuguese tactician is determined to start strong and make a statement against last season’s runners-up; excitement is already building among supporters who are eager to see how Amorim would unleash his summer signings.

Lots of the eyes have been on Benjamin Sesko, the Slovenian striker who joined the Red Devils from RB Leipzig last weekend. The forward has impressed staff in training and could be set for his debut against the Gunners.
According to the club’s official website, Amorim explained Sesko’s condition and revealed he is already in contention.
In his words:
“Of course. We didn’t have a lot of time but he’s ready. First of all, physically, he’s ready. That is a big component in our league.
Then, he’s really smart. Every detail he asks, he’s a guy that is always thinking. He spends all afternoon here working on his fitness, so he’s ready to play, we will see if he’s going to start.”
The manager also offered fitness news on other members of the squad ahead of Sunday’s game. He added:
“Nous and Licha are out, They cannot play in this game. Josh recovered, Andre recovered, they are options for this game, we will see.”
His statement means only Noussair Mazraoui and Lisandro Martinez are unavailable for Sunday’s clash. That leaves United with an otherwise strong squad to call upon as they prepare for a high-stakes opener.
With Arsenal finishing as runners-up last season, this fixture is already shaping up to be a fiery contest. Amorim’s faith in Sesko’s readiness, coupled with the return of key players, gives United a major boost.
The outcome could set the tone for both sides in the opening weeks of the campaign. All eyes will now be on Old Trafford to see how Amorim’s first Premier League test of the season unfolds
