James McAtee to join Nottingham Forest in £30m deal

Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign James McAtee as both clubs settle for a deal worth £22 million initially, which rise to £30 million through add-ons.

The deal between both clubs includes a sell on clause and a buy back option for Manchester City. Softfootball reported earlier that the 22 year old has agreed personal terms with Nottingham Forest as the transfer was in its final stages with an expected fee of £20 million.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, via his official X handle, he confirmed that McAtee said yes to Forest’s deal and is set to undergo medicals with Nottingham Forest.

He tweeted:

“James McAtee to Nottingham Forest, here we go! Deal agreed club to club for the midfielder who said yes to #NFFC as revealed earlier this week.

“£22m initial fee up to £30m package with add-ons and sell-on plus buy back clause. Medical booked for McAtee.”

McAtee’s future had been in doubt all summer, particularly after Pep Guardiola left him out of City’s Club World Cup squad along with Jack Grealish, a move widely interpreted as a signal both were heading for the exit.

McAtee’s arrival is seen as a boost to Forest’s squad as they look to push on in the Premier League this season. He is known for his impressive performance at City’s academy and has been seen as a player with potentials ready to make an impact.

McAtee’s medicals has been scheduled and once completed, he is expected to sign a long-term contract with Nottingham Forest. James McAtee is set to become one of Forest’s high signing this summer.
