There has been an update on the transfer business between Newcastle and AC Milan for German defender, Malick Thiaw. Softfootball had earlier been told that the clubs were not reaching an agreement.
As reported earlier, Thiaw had agreed a 4 year deal with the Magpies and also accepted the wages proposed to him by the Premier League side. Milan coach, Max Allegri had wanted the 23 year old to stay but the defender seems to be pushed by the urge to want to play European football.
Como had almost snapped the player with a $30m deal agreed with Milan but Thiaw rejected. Newcastle who are playing in the UEFA Champions League this coming season must have enticed him with that.

German Transfer Journalist, Florian Plettenberg had posted on his verified X handle that Thiaw and Newcastle had no problems in agreement.
He posted:
“Newcastle have reached a full verbal agreement with Malick Thiaw on a contract until 2029! /@berger_pj
“Negotiations between the clubs are ongoing, but Massimiliano Allegri is keen to keep him. The latest offer stood at €30 million. Bayer 04 Leverkusen are monitoring the situation. #NUFC”
The recent happening has now moved from €30m to €40m including add-ons which shows that Newcastle were not ready to lose catching a young reliable defender.
The Magpies had been bullied twice in Germany by Manchester United and Liverpool in the transfer business including Hugo Ektike and Benjamin Sesko.
They have also been rocked by Alexander Isak’s sudden urge to leave the club hence they need top signings to show the Swedish striker that they are in for business.
Confirming the updated report, Florian Plettenberg posted on his verified X handle.
He wrote:
“BREAKING | Malick #Thiaw to Newcastle – almost a DONE DEAL!
“Agreement in principle with AC Milan has been reached. Around €40 million all-in.
“Full verbal agreement was already reached, as revealed. Contract at least until 2029. Medical is scheduled to take place soon. #NUFC”
Newcastle had also brought on Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton on loan as they look to bolster the squad with qualities.
