Man United target Benjamin Sesko omitted from RB Leipzig squad against Atalanta

The transfer buzz around Manchester United target, Benjamin Sesko continues to intensify with the Slovenian striker notably absent from RB Leipzig’s matchday squad for today’s friendly against Atalanta at the Red Bull Arena. His omission comes amid growing speculation linking him with a move to Premier League.

Softfootball understands that Newcastle United submitted an opening offer of €75m plus €5m in bonuses to sign the forward which matches Leipzig’s valuation. But as well as the Magpies, United also remain in the race to sign Sesko, who scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 33 Bundesliga games last season.

Although Benjamin Sesko has yet to decide on his next destination, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports via his X handle that the 22-year-old has been left out of RB Leipzig’s squad for today’s match against Atalanta, with a summer move looking increasingly imminent much like Xavi Simons.

Sesko’s camp is still weighing up options, with no final decision made on his future club. Newcastle United are prepared to meet Leipzig’s demands and have been on standby since last week, while Manchester United remain in active discussions with the Bundesliga side. The tweet reads:

“Benjamin Šeško, not even in RB Leipzig squad today due to transfer set to take place this month — same as Xavi Simons.

“No decision made yet by Šeško’s camp on new club.

“Newcastle, ready since last week to pay what it takes… and Man United, also in contact with RB Leipzig”.

While some reports suggest that Benjamin Sesko has chosen Newcastle United as his next destination, there are still conflicting claims indicating the striker is yet to make a final decision between Newcastle and Manchester United.

What is becoming increasingly clear, however, is that Newcastle have met RB Leipzig’s valuation for the Slovenian forward.

His complete omission from Leipzig’s final home friendly of pre-season only adds fuel to the growing belief that Sesko is poised for a move before the new season kicks off, whether that’s to St James’ Park or Old Trafford is yet to be decided.
