Liverpool Plot Rodrygo Raid After Years of Losing to Real Madrid

Liverpool and Real Madrid have crossed paths numerous times in the transfer market, and more often than not, it’s Madrid who walk away with the prize.

From Aurélien Tchouaméni to Jude Bellingham and even Kylian Mbappé and Endrick, the Spanish club has developed a knack for outmuscling the Reds when it matters most. In many cases, Liverpool were first to show interest, yet Real Madrid’s allure has proven difficult for players to resist.

Take Tchouaméni, for instance. The French midfielder openly admitted that Liverpool came knocking before Madrid did. But once the La Liga giants entered the race, the outcome was inevitable.

Then there was Rodrygo. Back in 2020, Jürgen Klopp reportedly made the trip to Brazil to personally court the young talent, but Santos rejected Liverpool’s €3 million bid. Real Madrid swooped in with €40 million, and the rest is history.

Now, the tide might finally be turning.

According to Madrid Zone via X, the Reds are keen on “revenge”, and they see Rodrygo as the perfect target to strike back. These were their statements:

“Liverpool want REVENGE against Real Madrid.

“Liverpool have lost the battles for Bellingham, Tchouaméni, Mbappé and Trent and now want to sign Rodrygo to be their star.”

Liverpool are eyeing a second shot at Rodrygo, this time with serious intent to exact revenge on Real Madrid this summer, and this might be possible.

SoftFootball earlier reported that Rodrygo was the subject of transfer interest from PSG, Bayern Munich and Arsenal, but it is Liverpool that is leading the chase.

The Brazilian’s place in Madrid’s forward line is under threat with high-profile stars like Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius Jr, Arda Guler, Endrick and Jude Bellingham. Also, the emergence of Gonzalo Garcia during the Club World Cup has further increased the competition.

Saudi clubs have shown interest, but Rodrygo is said to prefer staying in Europe, and Liverpool are ready to pounce. The Merseysiders see a chance not just to land a world-class winger but to finally turn the tables on a club that’s outmanoeuvred them time and again.

A potential deal could also have ripple effects elsewhere. Bayern Munich remain keen on Luis Diaz, and Rodrygo’s arrival could open the door for the Colombian to head to Germany.
